HEAD UP IN THE CLOUDS

This has been some week! A sinful sinful week. It has been an extreme dose of sheer gluttony. Steamboat is always a hot favourite (no pun intended) this time of the year . The weather is so extremely hot though, which kinda kills the mood for steamboat. If only it was rainy and all dreary, everyone sitting around a hot pot would seem like such a better idea, then people sweating it out in an impromptu sauna session.

--

I've always wondered how my life would be like if i was 2 sizes down. Would i be different? Would things be better? Would things be worse? Would my life be different? Would my career be different? Would i have had more opportunities? Would i be bolder in pursuing what i really love, what i really have passion in? These thought never fail to stray far from my mind. Since the age of 12.

--

With so many things going on, its so easy to forget everything. People are always saying, " That's what an organiser is for. Thats why you need to jot things down." Yeah but what if you forget to jot things down? With the different channels of receiving and sending information nowadays its a wonder that people can actually remember everything. You can send out an instant message, get a reply through a phone call, send out a reminder through short message service and get a notification  via email and the electronic list goes on and on. Most of the time because you receive so much information from everywhere it is so difficult to recall where you received it, through which channel and by whom. If only everything had the search function that comes with your email. I just hope that with all these events slowly building up i don't forget anything important!

--

I never needed you for judgment
I never needed you to question what i spent
I never ask for help, I take care of myself, I don't know why you think you got a hold on me.

SURREAL REALITY

I really wish i had more to do. I mean i am not complaining but it just seems like such a waste of time just sitting there, watching the hours fly by. It so unproductive that it’s really quite sinful. It shouldn't be this easy, it feels more like a holiday job than anything else. I rather be up to my head full of work than not having anything much to do. It may be tiring and i may start complaining but it beats not having much to do.

--
The best thing about going to work late is having the energy for after work activities and not having to worry about staying out too late. The day passes a lot faster this way and this lifestyle might change sooner or later but at the moment i am rather contented with the way my social calendar is going.

--
I hate how people are constantly moving all over this globe. There will always be someone jetting off or someone coming back its getting so difficult to track. And it’s really saddening but then again then i guess people would be more appreciative of things around them. I just dislike how I’m always here. I want to be jetting off all over the place too. ):

--
I miss this whole blogging experience. The daily reflections. Since I’m so free i would actually start blogging daily again, or try to. It’s therapeutical. It makes me feel like i can tick one thing off the check list and feel a slight sense that the day was not all wasted and that i actually accomplished something.

--
I'm really sad over the whole situation now. What started off as something so ambitious that lead to such great results, that proved the diligence and tenacity of so many is slowly crumbling to bits, and all it took were a few idiots. Do they not have any respect for the effort that was slogged out to build it up to what it is today? The amount of sweat, tears, sleepless nights that have gone into everything? Are they so ignorant of that fact? Or just plain stupid? Even if they fail to sense or see all that, where is their sense of responsibility? Their sense of pride in what they do? It just makes me so mad thinking about it. Very mad, but more sad than anything else. Saddened how very selfish some people have become. It’s really simple, if you agree to do something then do it to the best of your ability. That all anyone is asking, and that’s all you should ask of yourself. No one is asking you to create a legacy. You may want to do something different but did you think of the repercussions? Do you think it’s just a one off thing? Have you even cleared your head from the clouds and thought about whatever is happening?

--

And even as I wander
I’m keeping you in sight
You’re a candle in the window
On a cold, dark winters night
And I’m getting closer than I ever thought I might

DON'T STOP BELIEVING

As i am waiting for SHUN to finish syncing i've decided to blog. Since i haven't done so for the longest time too. Anyway since school started everything has been rather crazy. The best thing of the whole work thing? Is the luxury of waking up at 9 plus 10. That part totally rocks. Also the ability ( at this point of time) to actually have a social life.

--

Its so weird that Marcus is in army. To me he's always my little brother, who well, is just this young boy. Not THAT young, but like younger than me kinda young. The fact that he is now is army is just such a foreign thing. Like him being in some ulu jungle and like sweating like a pig out in the blistering sweltering sun and doing overnight marches or what ever thing they do in army. Its just, plain well, weird. And its strange too how he won't be home for long periods of time.

--

I think its nice to just go over and talk. Even though we're not doing anything special in particular, other than watching either MS or JM or occasionally AC its just really nice and comfortable. I'm will miss her when she is gone. Someone who would actually indulge me in my shoe rants, cause the sister just is a total bf about shoes.

SHOUT IT FROM THE FLAG POLE

Crap. I totally miss the days when i had this compulsion to blog every single day. It was somewhat like doing a daily reflection of the events/ thoughts that happened in a day. Upon which i would choose certain thoughts/memories i would like to preserve down/ share and further ponder on them. Recently, i just found out that there is a term to sum up what i have just said, which is meta-cognition. Recently i hardly have the time to even gather my thoughts as they are usually all over the place and ruled by a bell. I need to start doing that again. I should try to.

--

Its weird to actually start work. Or more like its weird in a normal way. In a sense that its not like this is the first time i'm doing what i'm doing now but its just weird that this is the REAL DEAL. I do enjoy it though in a mild way. I mean i would prefer not working or more like being kept busy with other things but i definitely do not detest what i'm doing neither do i dread it. I can't say i don't look forward to each day but neither can i say i do. I am not unhappy doing what i am doing but i would wish i had more to do or something more exciting. I'm like a schizophrenic in that sense. The kids though, they just make everything worthwhile.

--

I can't believe Jan is coming to an end but i'm definitely looking forward to February. (:

SWEET DREAMS

Out with the old and in with the new.

--

It doesn't feel like the end of the year. This year just held too many changes and even till now it hasn't really settled in yet. Experienced many new things, felt many different things, understood, or maybe still grappling to understand the complexity of certain things. I just can't believe it is ending. It doesn't feel like a right time to end the year. Maybe a another month would be just right. Or maybe its just the fact that i recently started something new and hence it does not seem like anything should be ending at this moment. 2009 i will definitely miss you. It has been too memorable a year not to miss. All the good and all the bad.

--

And next year i have a long list of resolutions i plan to write out and keep track off, somewhat like ms. bridget jones, except i am not that desperate for a partner and definitely not willing to put out for co-workers or mother's friends' sons. And then at the end of 2010 i will have to check all of them. I've never really been a person for resolutions, every year with the same resolution of losing weight which never seemed to get me anywhere. Its like the kind of resolution that a person would break year after year but start each year with that resolution. Its rather comical.

FELIZ NAVIDAD

I would have liked to blog more over the post few days cause they have been full of action and packed like hell, but at 4 am in the morning every single day, i was looking more forward to the bed then to typing a post then going to bed. One thing that saddens me though was that i didn't even mention to take photos at all. Not even on christmas. I think they are mainly in Max's and Kwek's camera. The only passable excuse that i can come up with is that i was rather zonked out this whole period. And thats also the sucky thing about going for a holiday and coming back like just 5 days before christmas, with a ton of things to settle before christmas arrives.

--

So the rest of the days in Hong Kong just consisted of more shopping and eating. My feet went crazy from all that walking about. They're shopping centres are HUGE and with every shop almost having a sale, we can't couldn't resist to stop by and try things and buy stuff. ANd the food, mannn, they is just so much to eat there! The lights were beautiful, there were really pretty gardens full of hollies, some buildings were real elegant. It was really a wonderful trip.

CHOP CHOP

I had pork bun for brunch which was really interesting cause i don't think i've ever had a hamburger made with pork. It was really light and yummy though it was situated at a place i would never have considered walking into, if my parents had not lead us there. It was so hidden, its a wonder they actually discovered that place the last time they were in. Anothing that the cafe (tea house) is famous for is their.. INSTANT NOODLES. HAHA. They are really quite good, despite it being instant noodles.

--

Even though there are an amazing array and unlimited rqange of shops here, i think the service is really quite bad. The staff here are really rude and they just mutter under their breath as though you can't hear what they are saying. I was rather disgusted quite a number of things. They are just so unfriendly. I mean, come on, we are not even locals, so we can't speak the language smoothly, you have to be more patient with us. And even at times when they speak in english, it should so much like a fusion of canto and english that its really difficult to process what they are saying.

--

The christmas lights here are amazing. They are so creative, beautiful and so nicely decorated. From the boat, on the way to the Hong Kong main island, at night there are all theses beautiful lights that adorn the buildings with well wishes.

Hit me like a ray of sun
Burning through my darkest night

WAKING UP IN HK

OMG. There are just so many people in hong kong! Its only a tuesday night but everywhere was PACKED with people. The streets were so packed, it was like everyone decided to go christmas shopping tonight. I think SG would be something like that in a few years down the road, which would really suck as the weather in SG is nothing less than terrible. Its either freakishly hot, or exasperatingly wet. If its culminates to the same thing back home, i don't think i'll ever go shopping, probably just on weekdays, in the day. Hopefully it doesn't come too soon!

--

STEVE MADDENS!! Woohoo, i was so psyched that i finally got a pair! So tempted to get another BUT i will resist and only if i have extra kaching left then would i go and get them. They are so pretty and comfortable though. But no, i have to get this other shoe online that i really wanted but it was out of stock. Tough luck. More shopping to do! (: Its really tiring though. Especially with all that pushing.

--

Interesting thing of the day: Taking the DING DING, which is what they call the trams in HK. Why, its called ding ding is cause when it pulls up at each stop it goes DING DING. This and the ferry are both extremely afforable at jsut 2HKD per ride, which is roughly about 40 cents? And they allow you to stand at the upper deck! HAHA. I know its nothing fantastic but we never get that opportunity. Its also quite cool that we take a ferry everyday to the main island cause we're staying at Tsim Tsha Tchui. Its like living on Sentosa.

You wanna cash out
And get the hell outta town
Don't be a baby
Remember what you told me

SUPERSIZE ME

Been in HK for 2 days so far and still getting used to it. It really sucks to be staying so close to so many shops that i don't even dare to step into. Like Chanel, Dior, LV, Cartier, VAn Cleef and Arpels etc. There are scores of people lining up to go in and all i can do is tuck my hands into my pocket and comfort myself with the thought that one day i would definitely be able to go inside and come out feeling satisfied. I know its so sick and shallow, but that would be my achilles heel.

--

And the big Budha is REALLY BIG, he sits up on this mountain which is rather inaccessible. Having taken the cable car all the way up, with its clear crystal bottom was definitely an experience. Much better than the disappointment i faced in the evening when we went to the MEGA HUGE outlet store and i didn't get any clothing. It was so surreal, plus we were rushing for time so i guess i wanted to squeeze in more than i had the time to and ended up not really able to check through everything. Its HUGE though.

You say you like my bag and the color of my nails
You can see that I got it goin' on
I wanna make sure you remember me

UP UP AND AWAAAYYY

And we should be leaving in about 2 mins, but as you can tell, since i'm just beginning to blog, i don't think that is actually the case. This would be the final real trip that i'll be having all expenses paid. HAHA. On one hand its sad yet on the other, i'm glad i don't really have to be that much of a financial burden anymore. Its liberating i guess. I am so not ready for this trip, still racking my brains real hard thinking of anything i would have missed out. Really tired (from having to wake at 5.45) and really hungry (due to the fact we had dinner at like 6). I was supposed to plan the itenary but it totally slipped my mind, so i'm really hoping there is something if not i'll just declare it a shopping spree, of which my dad would definitely swoop in and take control.

--

I think after September, December is the next best month. Not only is it when christmas is, but its also when everyone special are all in one country. I really had some great times, and i can't believe i'm leaving when they got back not long ago. Plus due to the JOB i didn't really get much time to catch up properly.

--

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go

IT'S BEEN SO HOT

And i realised i have even blogged this December! Time is really passing fast, i'm almost done with this rather insane job, though this week is far crazier than all the past 7 weeks. I'm so glad its almost over though. Just like 3 more days. (: Today was NOT fun, but it was different. People actually were coming to you, you didn't have to go to them. It was strange. However if i were one of the people i would be so highly irritated. I mean there you are trying to make your way to work and there are like arms shooting around you, offering apples, flyers, magazines, newspapers, dairy products. I think i would be really annoyed, especially at like 8am in the morning.

--

I mean i know this is already the last week, but having to work straight throughout without a day's break is crazy. I only manage to get the breaks because i have requested for them, but other wise i would be expected to work 11 days straight without a break. Compassion? And to anyone who think, jez whats just 11 days? It is not easy standing for 7 hours a day in the BLISTERING COLD and then finding out, that on the days you were supposed to have off, you have got to be STANDING again getting up at like 5 plus 6 in the morning to work. Its mentally and physically draining. I'm kinda dreading the afternoon session tomorrow cause i think its going to be HOT. I'm hoping REALLY HARD its going to be really cloudly or raining. Though i think despite it raining we'd still have to do it.

I want your drama
The touch of your hand
I want you leather studded kiss in the scene
And I want your love

ANTI GRINCH

I don't think i've had a week as packed as this week in a long long time. Well, maybe not exactly an extremely long time, i think since i've ended school, which to me seems like my other life. It seems like i've graduated eons ago, even though it has only been less than 6 months. Never would i have ever dreamt, when i was still schooling that my life would be how it is today. Its really a mad world. I'm quite anxious about this sunday but i hope everything turns out well, i hope most of all that everyone enjoys themselves. I mean, hopefully there are no hiccups but even if any do occur, i think the most important thing is that everyone enjoys themselves and have a great afternoon. Ultimately, happiness, joy fun and laughter is best when shared and i think the best gift anyone can ever receive. What is the point of having all material things in ones possession if one is neither happy nor satisfied? And aren't people seeking such materialistic goals in hopes of seeking a sense of joy and satisfaction? However they add up just wanting more and more things, never truly satisfied with what they already have.

--

Just running through my photos made my realise how much i miss everyone from school. Well not from school, school per say but more from like university. I miss times when i happen to chance upon people and have like maybe 5 min catch up sessions before hurriedly rushing to class cause i'm late or something. When everyone meets at a certain event and just jest around and talk nonsense. Its all these little things that i miss the most. Especally hall with all those wacks around. Like the one who talks to her two bears, and the one who likes to take naps before dinner. Even the one who lives a few blocks down the road. And then there is all that eye candy around. I definitely don't get much of that around now a days. SIGHHHH.

I knew this was a dream it was too good to be true
Coincidences were a bit much too
Who wants to wake up?
Who wants to lose it?
Who wants to live in this place?
I don't, so I'll be sleeping in

TOO BAD TOO LATE

Maybe, owing to the fact that i was brought up in an english speaking environment and the fact that for a good 11 years of my life i was in schools were more people spoke english compared to any other language, i just took it for granted that most Singaporeans speak english. That people who spoke mandarin were the lesser of the chinese population. Maybe thats why i never particularly paid attention to mastering the chinese language well. Now however, i see i'm clearly wrong. And wish more than ever that i had put in more affect in grasping the language. It is so difficult for me to hold an actual conversation with the other working staff in mandarin and hence makes communication rather difficult. It really sucks. Half the time whenever they speak i have no freaking idea what they just said and so i just smile or laugh and hope it was a statement, something i don't have to reply to. Its really awkward. Thank goodness i went to NTU and actually grappled with the fact that i had to learn how to speak more mandarin or be left out.

--

I have yet to work at an outlet that has more rules. One rule even included not being allowed to wear jackets. When the security dude told me that all staff in that department were not allowed to wear jackets i was like UGHHH? I just stared at him. Where i work its friggin cold. Like so cold that your hand totally freezes up and can actually thaw when you're under the sun. I have to wear, on top of my polo tee, a cardigan and a jacket and i'm still cold. When he told me that, i just blurted out, " So i just don't wear and freeze??" I mean its totally wacko that i can't wear a jacket!!

SEEKING MOIRA

And today is the day that commemorates the birth of someone who is highly irritable yet lovable. A total contradictory person (maybe it runs in the genes). Someone with an extremely short fuse with people but who also has great patience and high tolerance towards all small animals. And hence to mark the birth of such a person, we went, after dinner to this new dessert bar, TOBY's, which IMHO is quite nice. Its definitely a place i would want to go back again to. Its a great place to chill and the names of the items on the menu really gave us a good laugh. My personal favorite was forest grump. It made me laugh quite a bit, just imagining a really grumpy wild thing in the forest just stomping around grumpily with a really moody ugly face. That would be some sight, but i don't think i would like to actually run into a forest grump.

Amy told me that she's gonna meet me up
I don't know where or when and now they're closing up the club, oh
I've seen her once or twice but boy she knows my face
But it's hard to see with all the people standing in the way, oh

SAYONARA

Dinner tonight was definitely much more solemn than usual. I guess cause the dinner topics were much more serious. It really sucks that you spend more than half your life doing something and in less than a year so much changes. What's difficult would definitely be the transition period, getting used to the fact that you have become just like about another 60 or so percent of the population. Holding a job, rising before the sun is out, coming home after the sun is down. I got really depressed when that happened during my internship. I mean, it really sucked not being able to be out in the sun in the day, instead you're just stuck in office starring at the monitor. Yeah you do get paid to do that but.. It still is pretty sucky if you ask me. Well, as what everyone would say, it's just all part and parcel of life, you gotta make it work for you!

OUTBACK

My mother can be very contradictory. The things that she says sometimes really totally makes me go, UHHHH?!! Like when i was talking sounding half dead, cause i'm was totally whammed out she was all, "Why do you talk like that? Don't talk like that unless you are dying." But when i talk normally she says,"Why do you talk so loudly do you want the neighbours to know your whole life story?" I think i should just not talk at all. Then again she might say, " Why are you so quiet? Is there something wrong with you?"

--
These past few days have been quite crazy. With work and other things. Can't believe that little girl is in Perth now!vIt was rather funny sending her off and just reminiscing all the other trips I've taken on my own. She was so scared it was actually quite endearing. She asked," Jie what if this is like another final destination? What if I come home half dead?" What a lot of what ifs! I really wouldn't know what to do if that really happened. Hopefully she enjoys herself! Wonder how camping in Perth would actually feel like! Maybe I should give it a shot one day, with my sister as my guide. HAH. That'll really be the day!

--

This morning was so tiring!! But extremely fun! Its always fun if you do stuff in a group i guess. I totally would not imagine myself doing activities like such if i had to do them alone! And i'm so glad its SUNDAY! I have this thing for sundays now.

COL+ CHALLENGE

Hopefully today would be the first and last day of this madness. It wasn't as tiring and strenuous as i expected. Maybe cause people were actually talking to me. The staff at that supermarket were really nice and i actually made a new friend. HAHA. Another guy was saying she was talking to me cause she wanted me to give her stuff but what the hell, it was rather interesting and at least it was some form of company. And now i totally have this OCD where i have to arrange whatever that is surrounding me nicely. Like if people take stuff and mess it up i just have to put it back nicely and like line them up and push the products to the front. Its crazy really and there are staff actually paid to do that kinda thing but i just do it anyway. The craziest part though is that i have to do it secretly and believe or not, i actually find some thrill in that. HAHA. And i actually LIKE doing it.

I'm totally psyched that everyone is coming back!!! (:

VOLCANO

I'm really really really really angry. I don't think i've been that furious in an extremely long while. They are totally jesting with us. There is something wrong with their work ethics. I just can't figure out what is the problem, why everyone is so unhappy and wanting to leave.

IN THE DOLDRUMS

Today was really depressing. Even more depressing than the first day of work, i guess cause that only lasted slightly over an hour. And that was more of a challenge then just plain depressing. I don't understand why people just wouldn't want to sample. Its weird. I mean they have nothing to lose. Its not like i'm asking them to try some new NUCLEAR product that is harmful. This is really GOOD for a person, but no they won't try. And the worst part was there were DO MANY people. It was teeming with people. That was what just made my emotions plummet. It even made me question whether i could actually even accomplish this simple job. Its definitely not difficult but i don't seem to be doing well. It may just be a part time job, but i hate not being able to accomplish it well. I don't like just getting money for nothing. I like doing something, and that is why i always want to keep myself busy. Just standing around is easy, but its meaningless and time passes so much slower that way. I hope i'll be out of the rut i was in today and tomorrow will be much better.

At least i have something or more like someone to look forward to tomorrow!! ((:
