Whilst staying at the Marriott, right at the entrance was a two storey high Christmas tree filled with photos of kids hanging from the branches. It was a project undertaken by Marriott, whereby hotel guests were free to help grant the wishes of some underprivileged children. It was nothing out of the ordinary as such acts of charity is rather common during Christmas. However on the last day, before we left, i took a good look at the wished of most of the kids, and it was only then that it hit me how very very fortunate I've always been. Where most kids would be wishing for things they WANT, most of these kids were wishing for things they NEEDED like textbooks and uniforms. One even wished for 6 bottles of Dettol. Made me feel ashamed that i hadn't done more when i was capable of doing so. I sincerely hope with all my heart that their wishes are granted and wish them a merry and blessed Christmas.

Death has a way of putting things into perspective.
Somehow, as simple as it seems, it does.
Seeing someone, lying in a coffin.
Seems so surreal, yet you know that the person will no longer be here.
Sad it may seem but to me, the saddest part is what happens after the death.
The will is the saddest part.
Not the passing of the person.
Why?
Cause thats what causes the most grieve.
Families split up, grudges escalate, and greed thrives.
The want to have more is so enticing, especially when no work had to be done for it makes it all the more alluring.
So alluring that it blinds people.
They fail to see whats important anymore.
Blood is thicker than water, but thinner than an inheritance.
Saddening isn't it?

"And they lived happily ever."
A mere sentence, yet so loaded with meaning.
It gives one the feeling of everything nice.
That nothing in the world could ever go wrong.
Maybe thats why i only like stuff with happy endings.
It has been more than once, that upon realising a horrible or sad ending is at hand, i fail to continue reading or watching.
I would not go to the extreme of saying that i avoid all things with unsatisfactory endings, as that would be of an utmost unwise nature.
However when knowing that, no matter what terrible things happen in the plot, ultimately, happiness prevails, grants immense satisfaction.
So immense, that for a brief moment, it seems all is right and good in this world.
Till random fleeting thoughts triggers the realization that such can never be true.
And hence the greater sense of euphoria, as when there is a happy ending, it defies what is evidently true and creates a strong sense of hope in a person that makes one want to fiercely believe in it.
If only it could hold true.
